Our values are what we believe coupled together with our actions to formulate our priorities.
ConnectingWe value connecting people with God. (Everyone needs a personal relationship with God, and even after that relationship is etablished, it needs to develop. We call that spiritual birth and growth.)- We value connecting people with other people. Some of the ways we do this is through small group and "team ministries".- We value connecting the church with the community. A church that does not contribute to the community is not doing its job.- We value connecting individuals and the local church to the world.
WorshipObviously, worship is one of the ways we "connect" with God. We encourage it to be individual (a 24/7 thing) and corporate.
Risk TakingPerhaps you may think it odd that we embrace this as one of our values. The way we think, the chief goal in life is not just to be comfortable, true Christian living is daring to do great things for God.
GivingReflecting God's character (John 3:16).- Giving God our attention and devotion (Mark 12:30).- Giving our service to others (Luke 10:30-37).- Giving back to our community. *Remember, there are two kinds of people in life, "givers" and "takers". Which do you want to be?
EmpoweringWhat on earth does that mean? No, it doesn't have anything to do with going to the gym to "pump you up". 1. We are talking about helping every man, woman and child within the sphere of our influence to become all that God intends them to be! At Coastal Journey, being is a vital part of everyone's journey. 2. Secondly, we want to empower (that is, to encourage and equip) people to do all that God intends them to do in life. 3. Thirdly, on a collective scene, we value empowering our churches and other churches to multiply. (No, this isn't a math class exercise.) Multiplying in the world is when churches plant churches that plant churches. After all, if we really believe that we have the best news in the world . . . called the gospel, we kinda have this crazy idea that we'd like to share it with everyone.
People and churches can only be empowered as they understand (1) How they are gifted and (2) they have the freedom to use those gifts in an impacting fashion. |
